Christmas in the Middle of the Summer - Noel en plein ete!

Christmas in Singapore is this year our first unusual experience to have Christmas in the middle of the Summer!
You are walking in the streets with the sounds of Christmas, the feel of Christmas, the buzz of Christmas but with the temperature of summer...Unbelievable and great!
The shopping feever is even greater than the rest of the year, and doing your Christmas shopping in shorts and t-shirt is a bit odd!
Despite the good weather everything is here to feel Christmas, we have to say it is pleasant before enjoying the cold and European Christmas...looking forward to playing in the snow....would be nice....

Noel a Singapour est pour nous, notre premiere extra-ordinaire experience de vivre Noel au milieu de l'ete!

On marche dans la rue en entendant les sons de Noel, vibrant a l'atmosphere de Noel, le bourdonnement de Noel mais avec une temperature estivale...Etonnant et tres agreable!

Bien evidemment la fievre acheteuse redouble a cette epoque de l'annee, et faire ses achats de Noel en short et baskets est quelque peu surrealiste!

Malgre la temperature (toujours entre 25 et 30 degres C malgre la saison des pluie), on se sent vraiment a Noel, et c'est plutot agreable avant d'affronter le Noel Europeen et glacial qui nous attend...Un petit de neige nous ferait bien plaisir quand meme...nous verrons....

Nature, toujours Nature - Nature again Nature

Suprenant ce Singapour ouvert a la nature! Comme ce cote-la nous plait nous avons continue par un petit tour dans la region "fermiere" de Singapour: Kranji. Ce coin de Singapour est connu pour son memorial sur la seconde guerre mondiale (interessant d'ailleurs de savoir, que ce coin du monde ait ete touche a ce point), mais apres la visite du cimetiere, notre destination principale de la journee etait les "fermes de Singapour".
Nous avons donc decouvert LA ferme chevriere, une ferme aux grenouilles(degustation de cuisses a la clef), une pisciculture (peche pour les garcons) and avons termine notre periple par une ode aux fruits et legumes exotiques: Bollywood Veggies. De riches Indiens ont decide de changer de vie et de se perdre dans un grand jardin (ouvert au public) ou les noni rivalisent avec les papayes et les figuiers sont aussi charges que les bananiers de tous les coins d'Asie. Une belle lecon de Nature!

As mentioned in the previous article, surprisingly, Singapore is nature as well. This time, we went to the "farms corner of Singapore". The area is called Kranji. It is famous as well for its memorial for the second world war (interesting by the way, that Singapore was touched as well by this piece of history), but our main destination was to discover the panel of farms existing in Singapore.

So we tour around a goat farm (only one in Singapore), a frog farm, a fish farm and ended in an incredible paradise dedicated to exotic fruits and vegetables: Bollywood Veggies: rich people coming from India who have decided to leave remotely and peacefully in Singapore and grow, in their back garden (quite big!), lots of varieties of lovely delights that we did not even know where they were coming from before...Another great lesson of Nature!

Before living in Singapore, we were thinking it was only city and buildings.

As we came from the countryside of the south-west of France, we looked for green at least to get some fresh air and move away from the roaring city. Finally we were able to find the parks in Singapore: several ones, linked between each other with cycling tracks, are the destination of our sunday afternoons....

One of the biggest is the Mac Richie Reservoir, a lovely jungle place around water, where you can run and cycle, crossing monkeys and lezards of all types... Unusual, but we like our friends of the Mac Ritchie!

Avant de vovre a Singapour, nous pensions que ce n'etait que ville et beton. Ayant passe quelques annees en Charente et Normandie, deux regions bien marquees par la campagne, nous avons cherche des "poches" de verdure. En fait de "poches", il y a plusieurs parcs sur Singapour plus grands les uns que les autres, des bouts de jungle qui sont restes intacts malgre le developpement du pays. Ces parcs, relies entre eux par des pistes cyclables sont souvent notre destination du dimanche apres-midi.

L'un des plus grands est le Reservoir Mac Ritchie. un bout de jungle autour d'une etendue d'eau (tour du plan d'eau=11km). Les pietons, joggers, cyclistes se partagent l'espace avec des singes ou autres petits comodos en liberte...et ils sont tres sympa nos amis du Mac Ritchie!

Anniversaire de Lucas sous le signe d'Halloween - Happy Halloween Birthday to Lucas!

D'habitude, Halloween ca toujours ete gentillet pour nous que ce soit en Normandie, Irlande, en Republique Tcheque ou en Charente.
On decorait la maison, se deguisait, faisait le tour du quartier, taper aux portes, recuperer quelques bonbons!
Cette annee, Lucas rentre de plein fouet dans ce que chaque parent redoute le plus: l'adolescence! Alors, il fallait que ce passage soit marque par quelque chose de special. Nous avons donc fait une petite soiree Halloween bien sympathique ou les mort-vivants les plus morts possibles rencontrer des personnages des plus trash...A vous de juger...et bon anniversaire Lucas!

Usually, Halloween is more trick or treat, knocking on doors and enjoy sweets and others small presents. At least, it is what we went through in Normandy, Ireland, Czech Republic and Charente over the years.
This year as Lucas is getting into this wondeful world of teenage, we wanted to do something special and it was special. The zombies were fighting against each other to be even more scarier and uglier! Good fun and scary night! Let's have a look! Happy Birthday Lucas!

Happy Deepavali or the Indian New Year in Singapore - Nouvel Indien a Singapour - 26/10/2011

In October, it is time for India in Singapore, and it is time for us to discover another face of Singapore. On the 26th of the month it was the New Year for all Indian people in the world...So we have decided to explore the Indian neighbourhood of Singapore: Little India!

The new year is the opportunity to bring lots of colours and traditions, and on the top of it the festival of the lights...wherever everyone is bringing a litlle contribution to make the lights shining in the night.

The lights, in the legend, were here to enlight the road of the king Rama going back home!

We have spent a lovely day there, just to get fancy to discover more about India: flavours, atmosphere, smile on the faces, everything was there to get the excitement of a new year! So Happy Deepavali to All!

Le mois d'octobre c'est le moment pour les Indiens de celebrer LEUR fete! Cela a ete l'occasion pour nous de decouvrir une autre facette de Singapour: Little India.

 Le 26 Octobre etait le jour de l'an pour les Indiens du monde entier, un nouveau calendrier pouvait commencer. L'Inde est immense (1.2 Milliards de personnes) et 350 000 habitent a Singapour! Et la semaine derniere, nous avons decouvert l'Inde a notre porte.

Le nouvel an Indien est plein de couleurs et de traditions, et egalement la fete des lumieres, ou chacun doit eclairer un peu plus la nuit noire....Les lumieres viennent d'une legende ou tout le pays eclairait le passage du roi Rama de retour au pays!

Nous avons passe une superbe journee a Little India,  une journee qui donne envie de decouvrir un peu plus ce pays: odeurs, senteurs, ambiance, visages illumines, tout etait reuni pour se sentir dans une nouvelle annee!

Festival des Lanternes - 18/09/2011

La vie des Singapouriens est rythmee regulierement, et de fait la notre aussi, par des fetes des communautes qui font la diversite de cette ville-pays.
Le week-end dernier c'etait le dernier week-end de la fete des lanternes, appele aussi le festival d'automne, ou le petit nouvel an Chinois. Je suis sur que certains nous corrigerons parce que j'avoue que ce n'est pas facile a suivre...
Ce serait en fait une legende datant du 16eme siecle.
Un oiseau envoye du ciel par l'empereur de Jade pour attaquer un village, aurait ete tue par les habitants.
En colere, l'empereur aurait decide de mettre le feu au village.
Ayant appris la menace, les villageois auraient fabrique des lanternes en papier, les aurauent allume et suspendu aux toits de chacune de leurs maisons.
Cette simulation d'un feu generalise aurait convaincu l'empereur que la mission avait deja ete accomplie.
De nos jours, c'est l'occasion pour les familles de se retrouver avec les enfants dans les rues avec des lanternes a la main, un peu a la maniere de notre Halloween. Et c'est ce que nous avons fait aussi!

Julian is getting Big, Party is on with the family - Julian a 9 ans, cela se fete en famille! - 21/08/2011

Already nine and full of life, that's Julian for you! To make sure, Julian will remember of that day, we have decided to experience Universal Studios Sentosa.
A wonderful experience: fun, emotion and a full day of excitement for the boys and  getting younger for Angelique and myself, great!
To remember even more, on that day, Julian and Lucas have decided to ride for the first time in their life an incredible roller coaster: Galactica battlestar. As one time was not enough, they did it 6 times!...too scary for us! Take a look on some samples of that day:

Julian a deja 9 ans et est toujours plein de vie! Pour etre sur qu'il se souvienne de cette journee, nous avons passe le 21 Aout dernier au parc d'attraction Universal Studios a Sentosa (petite ile au large de Singapour).
Cette journee a ete merveilleuse pleine de joies, d'emotions et de fun. Une occasion pour les garcons de se donner a fond, pour les plus grands de rajeunir un petit peu!
Pour vraiment se rappeler de cette journee, Julian et Lucas ont decide de vibrer encore plus que ce et de vivre le moment a fond. Pour la premiere fois de leur vie, ils ont dejoue les lois de l'apesenteur dans un incroyable grand 8: le Galactica battlestar. Fous ces garcons, au point de monter sur cette incroyable machine 6 fois!....sans nous!

Mersing et Tioman...un petit bout de paradis!
Magnifique paysage, mer turquoise, gouteuse nourriture, bref, ideal pour terminer les vacances!
Nous avions bien profiter de ces images magnifiques, du soleil, des baignades et autres explorations des fonds marins au mileu des poissons multicolores, un repos bien merite apres ces 12 derniers mois un peu chahutes...
Cela restera un endroit pour "rever et ne rien faire" a seulement 4 heures de la maison, tres tentant pour les annees a venir... Nous rejoindrons passer encore de beaux, plaisants, calmes moments en famille, c'est sur!

Arrives a Cameron Highlands, la montagne la plus proche de la maison...
Un peu d'air frais (20-22 degres "seulement"!) et d'altitude (1200-1500m) dans cette region de la Malaisie, le poumon vert du pays.
Plantations de the, exploitation de fraises, ballades dans la mossy forest sont au menu, un retour a la nature, a la decouverte des epices sauvages et de toutes sortes d'insectes...
Taman Negara ou la Jungle a notre porte.
Une route sinueuse nous amene vers un village traverse par une riviere couleur nougat. La route s'arrete ici. La seule facon de rejoindre nos chalets au milieu de la jungle est de prendre une pirogue pendant 15 minutes. Promenades dans la jungle, bain dans les cascades de la riviere. Les singes, les lezards, at autres insectes ont ete nos amis pendant quelques jours et nuits!
Aventure et Decouverte...Super!

A bit of fresh air(20-22 degres celsius) and altitude (1200-1500m) found in this part of Malaysia, the green pulmon of the country. Tea plantations, Strawberry farms and mossy forest, a return to the nature and discovery of wild spices and species of insects...
Taman Negara or the next door Jungle.
A winding and bumpy road to reach a village which looks like a dead end
reaching a nougat coloured river. The only way to reach our sleeping beds
was to take a pirogue for 15 minutes arriving in the middle of a jungle
forrest where few lost chalets were waiting from us. Jungle ballads,
waterfalls baths, monkeys, lezards and others insects were our friends for few days and nights. Adventure and discovery...Great!

Ville historique et metrople de modernite...
Debut plaisant de nos vacances a Malacca et Kuala Lumpur, connu sous son abbreviation KL.
Malacca est une ville qui a ete le centre du commerce, avec la presence innatendue pour nous des Portuguais, Hollandais et Britanniques.
Endroit ou les tricycles pour touristes ont replace les bateaux pirates.
Notre chemin a continue vers la bourdonnante KL au carrefour de la tradition (Chinatown, Little India) et du development economique, ou les encheres aux buidlings les plus beaux et plus hauts n'ont pas l'air d'avoir de fin...Les tours jumelles Petronas en sont le meilleurs symboles...Beaux temps et decouverte...super!

Historical Town and City of Modernity...
Nice start of our holidays in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur, known under KL.
Melaka a town which was the center of the trade in the old age, with unexpected signs from Portugueses, Dutchs and Britishs.
Place where the tricycle for tourists have replaced the old pirate ships for business.
Nice peacefull big village where the history of the trade in Asia have started through exchange activities.
The booming KL is at the crossroads of the tradition with the old neighbourhood of Chinatown and Little India and the development of the extra-ordinary new buildings, the Petronas Twin towers being the symbol of the development. Nice weather and discovery... Great!

Preparatifs pour les vacances...On the way for the holidays...

Cette annee, apres les changements et les voyages de ces derniers mois, nous nous posons dans la region pour les grandes vacances: direction Malaisie.
Des vacances entre ville et montagnes, bord de mer et jungle, aventures et repos, bref de vraies vacances.
Nous vous raconterons tout ca au retour...nous avons deja des images plein la tete! Bel ete et/ou bonnes vacances a tous. A tres bientot!

This year, after the last months changes and travels, we have decided to stay in the region for the holidays. We will discover Malaysia!.
This will be between cities and mountains, sea-side and jungle, adventures and rest, in other words, Holidays!

The Singaporian sense of Service...le Service a Singapour...Story 2

Again a business trip and airport story and thank you to Singapore Airlines!
On the way to China for a week, it was the wonderful opportunity for Angelique to keep our car (we only have 1) for the full week and to be a bit more autonomous than usual. I left home that morning in a taxi to the airport.

I arrived at the terminal. This time, everything was there: great, this trip was starting well, no panic to have! Before the control check area, everything have to leave the pockets: keys, coins, etc...everything. After these few months travelling, I am getting into a routine not as good as George Clooney in "Up in the Air", but I am getting there!
During the checking, I have found unexpectedly THE key of our car. NOOOOOOO, I could not believe that, as I have struggled with NO success over the last few months with the rent-a-car company to get the double of the key. NO other key for Angelique. The car would have to stay all week without being used in the carpark!
I decided to leave the queue and ran to the Singapore Airlines counter (again). They welcomed me with the same smile than before, just to cool down the desperate people like me (great!). They have proposed to keep the keys for us.
When Angelique managed to reach the counter 1 hour after, me boarding on the plane, she was welcomed with: "Mrs Baron, your keys are here for you, have a good day, Goodbye lah!". I was closed to hell with this story!

Encore en deplacement et une histoire d'aeroport et un grand merci a Singapore Airlines!
Allant en Chine pour une semaine, c'etait une super opportunite pour Angelique d'avoir notre voiture pour elle toute seule (nous n'avons qu'1) toute la semaine et etre un peu plus autonome que d'habitude. Ce matin-la j'ai donc pris le taxi pour rejoindre l'aeroport.

En arrivant a l'aeroport, cette fois-ci tout allait bien: j'avais tout sous la main! Super, ce voyage commencait bien, pas de panique! Avant le controle, je verifiais mes poches: cles, monnaie, etc..Apres ces derniers mois de voyages intensifs, je commencais a etre "regle" pas autant que George Clooney dans "In the air", mais pas mal quand meme!
Pendant le controle, j'ai trouve LES innatendus cles de la voiture! Oh NON, cela fait des mois que j'explique a l'agence de location le besoin d'avoir un double de cles mais ils refusent de me le confier...et voila, la clef etait dans ma poche, en direction de Shanghai et la voiture dans le garage inutilisable par Angelique pour toute la semaine. Je m'attendais a passer un sale quart d'heure au telephone et avoir un retour tendu le samedi matin! J'ai alors decide de quitter la file d'attente et de courrir vers le fameux comptoir Singapore Airlines, une fois de plus! Les hotesses m'ont accueilli avec le meme sourire de circonstance, histoire de detendre les personnes en detresse (ca marche!). Elles ont propose de garder nos clefs.
Une heure plus tard, j'embarquai, et Angelique etait accueillie de facon charmante au comptoir de Singapore Airlines:" Mme Baron, voici vos clefs de voiture, passez une bonne journee, au revoir". J'ai eu encore chaud sur ce coup-la!

The Singaporian sense of Service...le Service a Singapour...Story 1

2 small Didier's stories to illustrate what it is called Service in Singapore....Let's Start with this one:
One evening, I am flying (again!) for business. I was playing with my phone in the taxi, trying to become a performing professional...I arrived at the airport overloaded as usual.
I entered in the terminal and checked all my pockets to make sure passport, e-ticket, everything was in the right place to prepare the "road to the plane"...and I have realised that my phone was not there!
Damn, the most precious object for organisation purposes was gone on me! I have left it at the back of the taxi. I went to Singapore Airlines Counter, seaking for somebody who could "save my life". I was panicking a bit, and finally found somebody with a big smile on her face welcoming me: "How can I help, Sir?". I have tried to keep my calm to explain the stupid situation. The lady asked for my taxi receipt, called the taxi company, was able to locate the taxi driver and 10 minutes later, my phone was back in the planned pocket. I was so delighted that I wanted to tip the taxi driver, refusing it with a shining smiling face, explaining to me in a perfect Singlish "Noneed, Noneed, You are welcome Sir, have a nice trip, Good Bye Lah".

Un soir de depart en deplacement (encore!), j'etais en train d'utiliser au maximum mon temps de trajet dans le taxi m'amenant a l'aeroport en jouant avec mon telephone. Arrive a l'aeroport, surcharge comme d'habitude, je sors du taxi. Je rentre dans le terminal et fais l'inventaire de mes poches pour m'assurer que tout est bien en place: passeport, carte d'embarquement, tout ce dont j'allais avoir besoin de l'entree du terminal a l'arrivee dans l'avion. Mon telephone n'etait pas la! L'outil indispensable de mon organisation depuis plusieurs mois, avait disparu! Il etait reste sur le siege arriere du taxi.

Je me suis dirige vers le comptoir de Singapore Airlines pour trouver quelqu'un qui pourrait "me sauver la vie"! Je paniquais sensiblement, et ai trouve une hotesse ornee d'un grand sourire: "Que puis-je faire pour vous aider?". J'ai essaye de garder mon calme pour expliquer la situation cocasse et ridicule dans laquelle je me trouvais. Elle m'a demande le recu du taxi, a ete capable de localiser le taxi et son chauffeur ainsi que mon telephone. 10 minutes apres, le telephone etait de retour dans mes mains. J'etais tellement soulage que je voulais donner un pouboire au chauffeur de taxi, mais il refusa en me lancant:"Pas besoin, monsieur, je vous en prie, bon voyage!"

L'Ecole et le Travail: le debut de l'integration....School and Work: good start to integrate (2)

Schneider Electric et ses rendez-vous reguliers...Meme a Singapour, l'entreprise francaise cultive l'art du CE, et le charme de retrouver ses collegues en dehors du travail pour passer de bons moments. Je dois l'avouer, l'equipe locale, volontaires comme partout ailleurs (Chapeau bas), fait du bon boulot: BBQ geant, bowling, sortie cinema, sortie karaoke, et hier c'etait le Family Day!
Cette annee, le Family Day etait une journee organisee dans un parc avec au menu du paintball, du chamboule tout(bravo Julian), des jeux de Wii (bravo Lucas), un concours de karakoe (belle prestation d'Angelique!), peche et le fameux Lucky Draw: la loterie avec a la clef des bons d'achat d'une valeur non negligeable. Nous nous sommes retrouves a la tete d'un tresor de quelques stylo et autres porte-clefs aux couleurs des sponsors du jour...pas seulement Schneider Electric!

Schneider Electric and its regular family events...Even in Singapore the French Company is managing to get a social committee to share good times outside work with the colleagues. I have to say, the local team is doing a good job, volunteers as usual: giant BBQ, bowling, movies night-out, karaoke party, and yesterday it was the famous Family Day!
This year, the Family Day was a day organised in a park with paintball, chamboule tout, (well done Julian), Wii games (Well done Lucas), a karaoke competition (Angelique finishing #2, ready for American Idol!), fishing and the expected Lucky Draw: lots of vouchers and other bits ans bobs. We ended with bags full of pens, and key rings serving the adevertising of all the sponsors of the day and not only Schneider Electric!

L'Ecole et le Travail: le debut de l'integration....School and Work: good start to integrate

Il y a 3 week-ends c'etait la Kermesse de l'ecole, ou plus exactement du Lycee Francais de Singapour...c'est vrai que la dimension change de l'ecole de l'Enfant Jesus d'Angouleme. En effet, avec 1 800 eleves de la Toute Petite Section a la Terminale, nous etions un peu loin de l'amateurisne efficace et jovial que nous avons connu ces dernieres annees.
Des structures gonflables, un big band de jazz, des stands a foison, mais pas de spectacle d'enfant qui faisait la magie de ce que nous avons connu! Le buffet campagnard franco-francais a rattrape ce manque, arrose de vin qui nous a rapproche de nos convives!
La journee s'est terminee sur quelques pas de danse et des courses efreinees sur le terrain de Rugby qui nous tendait les bras! Histoire de perdre les calories accumulees pendant le diner...Le plus important de la journee: Lucas et Julian se sont regales!

3 week-ends ago, it was the end-year school party, or more exactly of Le Lycee Francais de Singapour...it is true that the dimension is slightly different than the small French School where the boys spent most of their last 6 years. With 1 800 students, we were far away from the efficient and full-of-life DIY party of the last years.
Boucing castles, big band orchestra, game stands everywhere, but not a day full of "homemade" shows which gave the pace of our last editions. The Frenchy buffet caught up the lack of show, and the wine helped us to get closer to our compatriotes!
The day ended with discoing and few races on the rugby pitch, as I could not stand having it in the front of us, bringing 2 teams playing a real mad game! Was the opportunity to loose the few calories of the dinner. The highlight of the day: kids have enjoyed!

Singapore Zoo - We are Members, ca y est nous sommes abonnes!

In Singapore, the membership is like a religion...In France, ou wallets were full of these loyalty cards, here they are simply explosing..."Are you a Member?" with a singing accent, is the typical sentence that you can hear everywhere you go. Of course at the beginning, you don't understand, after you get the card...and... when the question is raised, we are deeply proud to be A MEMBER...so the system is working, working so well that you can become a member for things that you are not sure to get the benefit...but anyway...YOU ARE A MEMBER and this is the most important thing!

So last week-end, we became the members of the Zoo and Night Safari of Singapore, able to go whenever we want for the next 12 months. Nice zoo, well fed animals and well taken care. On the top of that, most of the animals are in an environement close the natural one... a nice peaceful sunday afternoon!

A Singapour, la culture de la carte de fidelite est comme un sport national...En France, nos portefeuilles etaient bourres de ces cartes...ici les portefeuilles explosent! "Etes vous membre?" siffle aux oreilles quelque soit l'endroit ou vous allez. Bien sur, au debut, vous ne comprenez pas, apres vous prenez la carte...et... quand la question arrive, vous etes tres fier d'etre UN MEMBRE...donc le systeme marche a fond, marche tellement bien que vous devenez fidele sans etre sur de pouvoir profiter des cadeaux et autres promotions associes au programme de fidelite....Mais vous etes MEMBRE et c'est le plus important!

Le week-end dernier, nous sommes devenus membres du Zoo et du Safari de Nuit de Singapour. Nous pouvons y aller autant de fois que nous voulons et quand nous voulons pour les 12 prochains mois. Tres beau zoo, animaux bien traites et en plus dans un environnement naturel proche de l'original!...un beau dimanche apres-midi!

Batam, ce n'est pas seulement pour travailler...Batam, not only for work! 14/05/2011

Batam est une ile au large de Singapour. 1 million d'habitants, 3 usines Schneider Electric...et des amis qui travaillent et habitent sur l'ile, encore quelques mois avant de demenager a...Angouleme.
Bref, nous avons profite d'un week-end a la mi-mai pour passer du bon temps avant leur depart et decouvrir un peu plus l'ile qui est d'habitude une destination pour le travail.
Apres un diner Thai, un karaoke s'imposait ou chacun a pu mettre a l'epreuve ses talents de chanteur, mais Delila etait la, et il faut l'avouer elle est tres difficile a concurrencer! Le lendemain etait plus cool a la plage avant de rejoindre Singapour par le dernier ferry...

Batam is a island on the Singapore south coast. 1 million people living there, 3 Schneider Electric factories...and friends living and working there...before moving to ....Angouleme!

We have enjoyed a week-end with them around mid-may before their departure, discovering the island which is usually a work destination.

After a Thai dinner, we had to put our efforts into a Karaoke party, to compete against the unbeatable Delila! The day after was cooler and easier enjoying the sea side and beach, before embarking on the last ferry to Singapore...

Back to School but...in Singapore...Rentree a Singapour!

Our boys have been on holidays for 2 weeks, in Singapore, just getting use to the weather, having a little rest after rushing and being sad leaving their friends, their house and school behind.

Now they are in the Lycee Francais de Singapour for the last 3 weeks...Back to school went well. The first day of course, was a little uncertain getting to know the place, the teachers, the kids around, but now it's better.

Not so easy starting at the end of the school year...but it is better to have them here with us!

Even if they are missing their Angouleme's friends, they are starting to get on with other kids.

Lucas have had a friend at home over the week-end and Julian is invited to a birthday party next saturday.

They have found their favourite restaurants around Singapore(eating like monsters!) and they are happy out enjoying the good weather, the swimming pool and the activities we can have all together....

Nos tetes brunes etaient en vacances pour 2 semaines (vacances de Paques), histoire de s'habituer au climat, se reposer du rush et des emotions d'avoir quitte les copains, la maison et l'ecole.

Maintenant, ils sont a l'ecole Francaise de Singapour depuis 3 semaines...La rentree s'est bien passee...La permier jour evidemment, un peu d'incertitude a decouvrir les lieux, les profs, les eleves, mais maintenant cela va mieux.

Pas si facile de prendre une annee scolaire en cours, mais c'est mieux que nous soyions tous ensemble!

Meme si leurs amis d'Angouleme leur manquent, ils commencent a se faire quelques connaissances a Singapour.

Lucas a passe une journee a la maison avec un copain de classe le week-end dernier et Julian est invite a sa premiere Birthday's Party samedi prochain.

Ils ont trouve leurs restaurants preferes a Singapour (qu'est-ce qu'ils devorent!) et profitent du beau temps, de la piscine et des sorties qui animent nos week-ends...

Deja 2 semaines! Already 2 weeks! - 02/05/2011

La semaine a commence sur les chapeaux de roues avec un concert du feu de Dieu, lundi. Des Maroon 5 dans une forme extraordinaire, un public en delire, et une salle de concert tres bien climatisee. Bref, nous avons passe un tres bon moment, notre premier concert en famille et tout le monde a fini debout en chantant et dansant!

C'etait aussi la reprise du boulot (moins drole) et la semaine ou il a fallu encore et toujours regler les petits trucs du quotidien.

Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir un week-end de 3 jours pour completer l'amenagement de notre "chez nous", decouvrir en famille le coeur de Singapour (une premiere pour Lucas et Julian) et la magnifique baie...

The week have started off fantastically with a wonderfull show on Monday. Maroon 5, on the top of the world, an extraordinary audience, a very good aircon! The all family have spent a very good night, ending dancing and singing all together. It was as well the week to go back to work, to fine-tune the practical things to better enjoy our day-to-day life.We were lucky to have a long 3 days week-end to continue make our home more homely, to discover together the center of Singapore (1st time for the boys) and the magnificent bay...

20/04/2011 - 2 days to recover - 2 jours pour souffler

Just arrived in Singapore, despite the preparation, still lots of things had to be done: visiting the school, knowing the surroundings of the house, the supermarket, the bank, all these things we have forgotten so well established we were in Angouleme. Learning again. Interesting, but for some practical stuffs, no big interest, we have to say...

So the 48 hours away under the sun were more than welcome: listening to the sea, grilling under the sun between 2 swims, enjoying the local cuisine.

We have escaped to Bintan, an Indonesian island, only 1 hour sailing away from Singapore. 

A real bubble of oxygen! Great!

A peine arrives a Singapour, malgre les preparatifs, plein de reperages a faire: la maison, la residence, les alentours, l'ecole, le supermarche, la banques, bref tout ce que nous avons oublie apres ces annees passees a Angouleme. Re-apprendre. Interessant, de par la nouveaute, mais bon, pour certaine choses...sans plus.

Alors les quelques 48 heures passees au soleil a ne rien faire, juste ecouter la mer, griller au soleil entre 2 baignades, et profiter de la cuisine locale, etaient les bienvenues.

Nous nous sommes echappes a Bintan, ile indonesienne a 1heure de bateau de Singapour. Une vraie bouffee d'oxygene! Super!

18/04/2011 - En avant pour Singapour...Singapore here we come...

Apres une semaine de folie a ranger, nettoyer, reparer, preparer, demenager, s'enerver, profiter de nos derniers moments avec famille et amis (merci de votre aide a tous au passage, avec une mention speciale aux voisins-demenageurs!), les valises sont faites et nous voila partis!

Un petit voyage en voiture d'Angouleme vers ma Normandie natale, et un petit tour d'A380 (au grand plaisir des boys) vers cette nouvelle terre de vie. Voila, maintenant nous y sommes et pour de bon, re-unifies, et le blog peut vraiment commencer....

After a mad week to organize, clean, fix, prepare, move out, get nervous, enjoy the last moments with family and friends (thank you to all, with a special big thanks to our neighbours/movers), our suitcases are ready and here we go!

A little journey by car from Angouleme to Normandy, et a little flight on A380 (a surprise for the boys!) to new horizons. That's it, now we are there or here I should say, and for good, re-united, and the blog can go on...

Farewell Parties …..Ce n’est vraiment qu’un au revoir

Ces derniers jours ont été consacrés à ces moments douloureux où on doit se dire au revoir…en faisant tout pour profiter de l’instant...

Que ce soit en famille, entre amis, entre collègues, à l’école, au rugby, au travail, à la maison, en Charente ou en Normandie, ces moments ont été pleins d’émotions.

On va en garder de beaux souvenirs et penser à comment perpétuer tout ça malgré la distance qui va nous séparer.
